India’s Golden Triangle is the perfect point of entry
into India for first-timers.
The Golden Triangle is a good introduction to India for the
lay traveller. The cities of Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur are exotic,
as well as understandable – or so you think, until you
get into the streets. Then you realise that three are some things
you simply cannot prepare for: the intensity of the massive
poverty; the religious diversity; shocking government hotels;
antiquity still everywhere you care to look; the scale of the
Taj Mahal; the mystique and audacious grandeur of the ancient
Mogul architecture; the chauvinism; the environmental desecration…and
the traffic.
